Impacts of climate change and ways of adapting physical education teaching in pre-school, school (primary, secondary), college (or high school) and university environments

This project is being carried out in collaboration with a team of researchers from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) and Université Lyon 1. You will be asked to complete questionnaires on a number of topics related to health and/or sports physical education (PE) and climate change (CC) (e.g. your environmental awareness, your environmental behaviors, your experiences with events such as floods, heat waves, ice storms, etc.)). as well as to participate (if you wish, by providing your email address at the end) in a focus group and/or individual interview to delve deeper into several themes around your PE experience in relation to CC.

This research project has four objectives:

a) To identify and document the impacts (past, present and future) of CC on the teaching of PE in pre-school, school (primary, secondary), college and university settings;

b) To identify and document the ways in which PE teachers in pre-school, school (primary, secondary), college and university settings have adapted to CC;

c) To document initiatives put in place by PE teachers to raise awareness, train or prepare their students for the impact of CC;

d) To improve initial and continuing training opportunities for PE teaching, particularly in university settings (kinesiology and physical education).

This project has been approved by the UQAM ethics committee (2024-6259)
